Mary Baker Eddy

A remarkable woman clearly ahead of her time, Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910) challenged nineteenth century mainstream beliefs about the nature of man’s existence and the power of prayer to heal. Honored in the U.S. National Women’s Hall of Fame, her accomplishments include establishing a worldwide church and The Christian Science Monitor, an international daily newspaper. She also lectured, taught, wrote several books (including the seminal work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures) and healed thousands.

The Mary Baker Eddy Library, established in 2002, is a place for people to explore her life, ideas, and achievements. The library’s collections are one of the largest by and about an American woman. Located in Boston, MA, the library also has an extensive website.
